Patient FAQs

New to receiving medical infusions, or just looking for more information? Here are the questions patients ask most often.

Can I eat or drink before my infusion?

The guidelines for eating and drinking before an infusion may vary based on your treatment. Your healthcare provider will provide specific instructions prior to your appointment. In some cases, you may need to fast, while in others, you can eat and drink as usual.

Can I bring someone with me for support?

Absolutely. Having a friend or family member with you during your infusion can provide emotional support and make the experience more comfortable.

What should I expect during the infusion process?

During your infusion, you'll be comfortably seated in a reclining chair. One of our specialized infusion nurses will insert an IV or catheter to administer the medication. You can read, watch TV, or simply relax during the procedure. We provide blankets, snacks, and drinks.

How long does an infusion typically take?

The duration of an infusion varies widely, depending on the specific medication and treatment plan. Some infusions are as fast as 30 minutes, while others can take up to four hours.

Are there any side effects or risks associated with infusions?

While infusions are generally safe, some medications may have potential side effects. Your healthcare provider will discuss these with you and closely monitor your condition during the infusion.

What's the post-infusion process?

After your infusion is complete, you'll be monitored for immediate reactions. Your healthcare provider will give you post-infusion care instructions, which may include dietary recommendations, activity limitations, or follow-up appointments.

Most importantly, we're here for your safety and comfort. Ask our experienced team any questions about your infusion - no question is unimportant to us.
